DYES

Ortho Chemicals has an extensive supplier contact base and a wide selection of high performing colourants and optical brighteners. Choose from our range, or request a specific dye.

Acid dyes – specialised dyes for Wool/Nylon application.
Basic dyes are water-soluble cationic dyes that are mainly applied to acrylic fibres, but find some use for wool and silk.
Direct dyes, a water-soluble dye that is used in alkaline or neutral solution, especially for dyeing cellulosic material (such as cotton or paper) directly.
Disperse dyes for dyeing cellulose acetate and polyester materials.
Pigments for colouring paints, inks, cosmetics and plastics.
Reactive dyes have good fastness properties and are most commonly used in the dyeing of cellulose like cotton or flax, and wool.
Optical/Fluorescent brighteners for laundry detergents and paper whitening.
Solvent dyes are used to colour organic solvents, hydrocarbon fuels, waxes, lubricants, plastics and other hydrocarbon-based nonpolar materials.
Sulphur dyes generally have good wash-fastness, and are easy to apply. They are used chiefly in dyeing cotton and other cellulose fibres and are predominantly black, brown, and dark blue.
Vat dyes are a water-insoluble, generally fast dye used in the form of a vat liquor. They have high light fastness, excellent for dyeing fabric for army uniforms.
